Jewish religion — Lhram had a vision in which the Lord spoke to him: `I shall
or your shield, and I shall bestow upon you a great reward.’
W Abram answered: `Sovereign Lord, what good is your
award to me, since I have no children? One of my servants
i rl l inherit my property.’ The Lord spoke again: `A servant
rift not inherit your property; your own son will be your
r a_’ The Lord took him outside, and said: `Look at the sky,
od count the stars – if, indeed, you can count them. Your
iescendants will be as numerous as they are.’
Abram put his trust in the Lord; and the Lord was pleased
ri .h him, regarding him as righteous.
