latest news on Pakistan: It is reported that on Monday evening a suicide bomber blew himself up in Mingora evening killing seven persons including a policeman, a woman who has recently embraced Islam and two other women at the busy Nishat Chowk in the centre of the city.
According to reports the bomber went near a security forces’ vehicle and exploded dynamite. Wounded were reported to be 37 including two members of the security forces.
An eyewitness said he saw a flame followed by a blast which put nearby vehicles on fire and damaged a number of shops. The members of the fire brigade helped in extinguishing the fire. They also took some injured to Saidu Sharif Hospital.

All the business centres in Mingora city were closed as soon as the news of the blast spread. A curfew was imposed which was lifted at about 7.30 p.m. and all entry and exit routes of the city were closed. The security forces continued aerial firing to warn the people. Police also fired teargas shells to disperse the crowd which had gathered at the scene of the blast. Earlier, Mingora was abuzz with the rumours of a suicide bomber having entered the city for the last six days. The city saw a major activity by the security agencies as they rounded up pedestrians, men on bikes and in vehicles. The security forces frisked, searched, noted their particulars and then let most of them go. This activity has been continuing for the last two days. Curfew was also imposed in Berkot. According to police sources some of the wounded were in serious condition.
Unfortunately, Pakistan has turned a victim itself while fighting a war against terrorism. The death toll has reached thousands now and many families have faced casualties and deaths. The world needs to recognize this.
