Do we need to change many Parents’ Day Quotes for Gay Parents?
June 30, 2011
There are a number of Parent’s day quotes for parents’ day that address mother and father at the same time. For example:
• “A mother and a father are the bones on which children cut their teeth.”
• “Definition of Father’s Day: Same as Mother’s Day but you don’t spend as much.”
• “No matter what, Dad was always there with solid words of advice . . . “Go ask your mother.”
• “There are three books my daughter felt were the most important influences in her life: the Bible, her mother’s cookbook, and her father’s checkbook.”
• “My mother phones daily to ask, “Did you just try to reach me?” When I reply no, she adds, “So, if you’re not too busy, call me while I’m still alive,” . . . and hangs up.”

In all the above Parents’ day quotes you will find that mother and father both are addressed or talk about. But now that we have an increasing number of gay parents – who might also receive parents day greetings and parent’s day cards with Parents’ day quotation on them – do we need to change many of the parents’ day quotes for them? Do we need to look for new gay parents’ day quotes, as kids will find them wrong to state them in the cards or parents day presents.
