August 8, 2011

News Worldwide
Saudi Arabia withdrew its ambassador from Syria to the international community to accelerate the pressure on the Syrian government to end its crackdown on opposition protesters.

Saudi King Abdullah on Monday issued a statement urging Syria to end the bloodshed. He says the situation is not consistent with the religion, values and ethics.
Saudi king’s message follows similar statements by the Arab League and the Gulf countries, consisting of six Arab states like Saudi Arabia. At this point, the Arab leaders were largely silent on the subject.

In the meantime, Syrian activists and residents say that the bombing resumed Monday in the eastern town of Deir el-Zour, where security forces backed by armored vehicles were carrying out an attack since Sunday. Human rights groups say at least 42 people died in the city on Sunday.
The activists said that the Syrian forces also stormed Maar al-Numan in the northern province of Idlib Monday, preventing residents from entering or leaving the city.
President Bashar al-Assad defended his violent attack on Sunday, saying he is a national duty to address what he calls bandits cut roads and terrorize the population. Speaking in talks with foreign minister visiting Lebanon, Mr. Assad also said Syria is on the path of reform.
The Syrian president faces growing international pressure to end the repression.

Is there any chance for recession?

August 8, 2011

News Worldwide
While the employment Friday may reduce the urgency of a new round of the Fed’s help, a vision deteriorating economic environment and the actions form the other central banks, the central bank communicates much less optimistic about the political declaration and measures to a new stimulus.

There are several options that the Fed can stimulate the growth of: Changing the language in the declaration, by shifting the composition of the balance sheet is no longer the maturity, lowering the interest paid on the Reserve, an official of the inflation target, which clearly shows caps interest rates on longer-term Treasury debt (where the asset purchase of components), and outright purchases of bonds (ie QE3). Policy-makers are not likely to expand to more QE3 evidence is the presence of a recession lasting and inflation and inflation expectations moderated significantly. We expect that the Fed is approaching to take the first option was the August meeting.
Despite little influence on the outlook, it can help lift mood and lead to expectations of further easing in coming months.
U.S. ‘non-agricultural employment increased by 117 K in July. The private sector employment jumped by 154 K, but was partially offset by a decrease in temporary public employment. Unemployment unexpectedly slipped to 9.1% against 9.2% in June, but due to lower participation. Although the report had led the market higher, the effect was short lived as the global economic outlook remains bleak. After the market close, the S & P cut the rating of U.S. debt by one notch to AA + and maintained its outlook “negative” after the close of business on Friday. The agency said the downgrade reflects the fiscal consolidation plan was agreed earlier this month did not live up to what is needed to stabilize the dynamics of public debt in the medium term.
Economic growth in 2Q11 was weaker than expected. GDP grew 1.3% to an annual rate of 1.8% compared to the growth of the consensus, while the reading was revised lower than the 1Q11 from +0.4% +1.9%. Various financial institutions turned more pessimistic about the second half and reduced their forecasts for 2012 after the disappointing relationship. Now the central bank has a weight of temporary difficulties and factors that influence the steady recovery path. This certificate, before the Senate, July 13, Chairman Ben Bernanke said the weaker than expected recent economic performance has been influenced by temporary factors like the ‘rush of energy prices, particularly gasoline and food, “and “supply chain disruptions that occurred after the earthquake in Japan.
We expect the Fed to give tone of the post-meeting statement doves in the month of August. Report suggests that GDP growth was slower than the ‘modest pace’. We also expect the Fed to change the “long term” language Signal commitment to low interest rates. In addition, the funds, Fed policy makers may also be a sign that the central bank to maintain the balance between large for longer than previously expected.

Adam Scott towards success

August 8, 2011

News Worldwide
The singing and cheering began as Adam Scott went to the 18th green to complete a command performance yesterday at the invitation of Bridgestone in Akron, Ohio, and win his first world championship golf.

But in a surreal scene at Firestone, it was not for him.
They were intended for his younger brother.
Steve Williams said, they shouted as the new partner Scott broke into a smile.
Celebration has made it clear that Steve Williams seemed to be fired immediately after Tiger Woods last month. After the interview, it was over – Yes, he gave interviews – made it sound as if Williams, who shot 5-under-par 65 at one point, Williams was described as a good advantage when they are caddying.

I caddied 33 years – 145 to win now – and is the best win I’ve ever had, Williams said, the 18th green. This from a guy whose 12 years he worked at Woods on display 13 large companies and 16 world titles between 72 to win the championship. It includes the 2001 Masters, when Woods won an unprecedented fourth straight.
Obviously, Williams is still angry by the way – and when – Woods cut losses. He challenged Woods’s version of what happened, Woods said, saying the phone, not in person.
Scott does not seem to care that his younger brother became the most attention.
I can talk to Steve today and not Tiger, Scott said to laughter, referring to the countless times he and other players were asked about Woods. I’m sure there are many other golfers who do not mind, either.
The final chapter of the saga involving endless Woods took off peak performance by Scott, who has not made a bogey on his final 26 holes and could not afford the 19-year Ryo Ishikawa give everything could manage.
They were never separated by more than one shot, until Scott chipped through the green side of 12, then rolled in a birdie from 30 feet just inside the 14 to build a three-stroke lead . Ishikawa three put on 15 and Scott had no trouble closing this one out.

What is Angelman Syndrome?

August 7, 2011

News Worldwide
Angelman syndrome is an unusual inherited illness that causes severe, but a constellation of developmental problems in children who are affected, including mental retardation, small talk, and in some cases, autism.

More than a decade, researchers have discovered that the U.S. is caused by mutations in single genes, but none could explain how these defects lead to symptoms of debilitating neurological disease.
New work by Michael Greenberg, president of the department of neurobiology at Harvard Medical School (HMS) that provides a glimpse into the mystery by showing that the enzyme is missing, UBE3A, interacts with neuronal proteins key to control how the environment shapes the synaptic input connections.
In other words, the loss of UBE3A disrupt the brain’s ability to use the environment to enhance the experience of neuronal circuits, which could explain the lack of development that occurs in the devastated U.S.. This suggests a new target for the treatment of Angelman syndrome. Currently, physicians can manage some symptoms of AS, but there is no cure for basic functions.
Moreover, the UBE3A gene is also mutated in some cases of autism, which raises the possibility that these results may also explain some of the problems that occur in autism spectrum disorders, which is 100 times more prevalent than in the States USA.
With this work, we have moved from a place where we can only imagine how UBE3A can work, be able to reflect on the possibilities for therapeutic intervention in diseases that, until recently there was very little to do” said Greenberg, Nathan Marsh Pusey professor of neurobiology at HMS.
Angelman syndrome results in the number published on March 5. During the first years of life, the brain works, “Rewired,” external stimuli. Adjusting these neural connections is important to establish normal neurological functions, and should go wrong in a number of developmental disorders that lead to mental retardation or other cognitive problems. The new work shows that Ube3A is a key regulator in this process, and the relationship between the loss of some changes Ube3A synaptic activity.
