Tony Kornheiser Suspended
February 23, 2010
Hot sports news: Tony Kornheiser is the smartest guy in the class. He has done it all at the highest levels. Writing. Radio. TV and part of his schtick is to go into places and sarcastically tweak people in a way which others do not or are not talented enough to do. You watch him on Pardon The Interruption, you know that.
One might wonder what is ESPN doing in suspending him (as the biglead.com reported) for calling out Hannah Storm on her constant wardrobe malfunction? Are they crazy? or have they lost their minds? Anyone who has watched her ESPN SportsCenter gigs has thought something close to what he’s said, if not used the term “sausage casing.” Remember, she’s 47 (which is why I don’t wear red boots anymore).
Here’s what Kornheiser said last week: “Hannah Storm in a horrifying, horrifying outfit today. Shes got on red go-go boots and a Catholic-school plaid skirt. Way too short for somebody in her 40s or maybe early 50s by now. Shes got on her typically very, very tight shirt. She looks like she has sausage casing wrapping around her upper body. I know she’s very good, and Im not supposed to be critical of ESPN people, So I wont. But Hannah Storm, Come on now! Stop! What are you doing? She’s what I would call a Holden Caulfield fantasy at this point.
Come on, he even gets in a literary point at the end! I just hoped he would channel Nancy Sinatra with a sing-song line of, “These Boots were made for Walking.”
But suspend him for a few days?
Example No. 4,052 of ESPN taking itself far too serioiusly.

Kornheiser opened his radio show, saying about the incident: “I apologize, unequivocally … I’m a sarcastic, subversive guy … I’m a troll, look at me. I have no right to insult what anybody looks like or what anybody wears. That, I think, should go without saying.”
Except that’s what’s makes him so great.
