World news net: “Religion is an illusion and it derives its strength from the fact that it falls in with our instinctual desires.”
Sigmund Freud, New Introductory Lectures on Psychoanalysis
A set of practices and tenets which is usually centered on some specific moral values and supernatural phenomenon is known as a religion. The moral values that a religion supports can be about human nature, the cosmos or any other reality. The term itself highlights both personal practices and rituals practiced by any group or community while having firm believe and faith in them. Thus, religion in all times has been defined in a wide range of methodologies.
“Religion consists in a set of things which the average man thinks he believes and wishes he was certain of.”
Mark Twain
Religion by sociologists and anthropologist is seen as an abstract set of ideas, experiences as part of culture or even values practiced. Others have defined religion in a way that denounces any reduction in certain psychological and sociological aspects of life. It is a common human psychology that any and every human at least once in life strives to make a religious inquiry.
“Religion: Human beings’ relation to that which they regard as holy, sacred, spiritual, or divine.”
Encyclopædia Britannica (online, 2006)
All over the world since human kind was created, people have thought about the purpose and meaning of life. This strive has made man to evaluate best in life, reciprocally wondering about life, after life and any linkage between them. This human strive and struggle has also resulted in wondering about anyone controlling everything out there.
“Religion is the human attitude towards a sacred order that includes within it all beingâ€â€human or otherwiseâ€â€i.e., belief in a cosmos, the meaning of which both includes and transcends man.”
Peter Berger

It is impossible to give one definition to the term religion as the world has a large number and set of believes that are defined in terms of religions. Sometimes religion is also described as system prescribing a set of beliefs gradually focusing on thoughts, unseen objects or beings also termed as supernatural and divine.
